While Great Tit / Kohlmeise (Parus major) rather frequently imitates the calls of Common Chiffchaff / Zilpzalp (Phylloscopus collybita collybita) – see recordings here – I’ve not heard it giving a (to my ears) rather perfect imitation of the calls of Siberian Chiffchaff / Taigazilpzalp (Phylloscopus collybita tristis).
When I thought to hear one of the rare (but increasingly regular) migrants in Frauenkirchen (Burgenland, Austria) I was very surprised to find a Great Tit uttering these calls. Only after 10-15 tristis-like calls it also gave a regular, rattling alarm call.
