A Whimbrel with (somewhat) barred rump on Fuerteventura

I came across this Whimbrel / Regenbrachvogel (Numenius phaeopus) during a trip to Fuerteventura/Canary Islands, in March 2019. Its barred rump and upper tail coverts let me think of the Nearctic race „Hudsonian“ Whimbrel (Numenius phaeopus) but at closer examination, the pattern was just somewhere between the clean white rump of European birds and what would be expected from true Americans. An integrade? A hybrid? Or just variation within the European/west Siberian ssp. phaeopus? The barred rump also suggests ssp. variegatus from eastern Siberia, but underwing seems to be too light and not barred heavily enough for this taxon.
